New Mogloween, soloing woes, and countdown to Nanowrimo

Adventure Quest Worlds has just started the Mogloween event for this year. It's actually the first major Mogloween event I've been present for, since I started playing AQW around December of last year when the Mount Frost War was going down. This year, we had to take down some creepy-ass Chaos Kids who answered to She Who Walks The Stalks, a seriously nasty palette-swap of the Wisteria from Guru Forest. I leveled Etheara up to Level 31 this morning, though I had to get rid of pretty much all of my potions while going through the event tonight due to the Candy Corn and other trade items that the kids dropped. You basically rack up enough items to trade in for certain items in the shop, which beats the hell out of shelling out gold all the time. And they also included the option to get rid of all of a certain item if you wanted to free up inventory space, which was a very nice move on AE's part.

Soloing has been getting fucking brutal lately. I have not been able to take the Mafic Dragon solo with any of my classes, not even with potions. The guy likes to crit like an asshole even past my Footwork, and oftentimes the bastard kills me before my goddamn potion is even finished cooling down. And that son of a bitch hits HARD -- we're talking high 400s territory here. And I tried soloing the Stalkwalker once without potions and can already tell that she is going to be a royal bitch to solo for real, since she crits for even worse damage (500s) than the goddamn dragon. As of right now, my only option seems to be some serious grinding to get Etheara to level 35, because at this point, I don't know if I can win against them any other way (with the exception of becoming a member and going Paladin or Berserker).

With Nanowrimo coming up in just eight more days, I'm hoping to get Ledgermayne, the Chaos Lord of this particular saga, defeated and out of the way before November begins proper, because come November, I'm going to be focused more or less entirely on Nano. I've decided to write about Alastor again, but am currently torn about whether to write a series of short stories as I originally planned, or one whole novel featuring my main man. I've not been the best in regards to keeping to a single project for more than a few weeks, so going for the novel approach would be problematic without an outline to work from. Going for short stories, on the other hand, would require a whole lot of plots to work with, as well as their own little outlines. I'll need to decide soon which one I need to go with before this month is out.
