Power Failure
So a big nasty storm hit Melrose yesterday afternoon and left us without power for the rest of the day and well into the night. Not a fucking fun experience. What especially pissed me off was that the store down the hill apparently closes during power failures, which I had to find out about the hard way after my usual long walk from my place to the store in order to get something cold to eat because I was just about out of stuff that doesn't have to be cooked (indoor range and microwave were out of the question because the fucking power was down). I'm going to need to throw out some of the food in the freezer due to possible spoilage. The hamburger I can probably salvage, but the pork steak's gotta go -- you leave it out, it's gonna kill you if you try to eat it. I'm going to need to do some shopping next week at the very least.
A couple trees got blown down and a good number of branches got broken off. The reason we were without power was because a line went down near the elementary school, which is on the highway but a few miles or so from the town proper and away from the store. Called Mom and found out that the storm hit Cataract too and they were without power. Hope it's back by now. Anyway, they've got it fixed now, which is why I can write in this thing now. Having to spend the night without music and internet was not fucking fun at all, as there's absolutely nothing to do except try to sleep -- you need light in order to read by, and though a candle does help, I needed to use a flashlight in order to do any reading or writing.
