Our little, or rather large, puppy got his snip yesterday. Thankfully it was only day surgery and the nurses said Murphy behaved very well, which is good for a dog his size - he just loves any kind of attention and up until now loved going to the vet. When we dropped him off yesterday morning he was all happy and waggy, but when we picked him up he was groggy and exhausted, but he still managed a tail wag when he saw me.
After our frank discussions with the vet over unecessary tests, xrays etc we have switched vets (to the owner) and are staying with the same clinic. Our new vet, Dr. Clark, offered no excuses for the lack of discussion about all unecessary and optional charges. We finally were able to talk with our vet and not worry about being charged or have a light bulb go off in his head for some new test, exam or whatever to charge us for. Let's see if this works out - but at least we are having a discussion with this guy rather than just having assumptions made on their part.
Anyway, we got Murphy home and he is still adjusting to his cone - only 7 more days. Thankfully he only needs it on when left unattended from now on, and we have to keep him calm and let him rest. So far he is doing good, and doesn't fight when the cone of sillyness is put on (helped by some coaxing with a treat). Ziggy, our cat is still very hesitant going near Murphy because of the cone. Murphy is still bumping into walls, tables, and us, you can't help but chuckle at him - is that a bad thing?
Here are some photos that are cute, and made us laugh at our little cone-head.
