Insight into the next Pixar film post Wall E....and the next Disney Princess after Rapunzel...
Upcoming Pixar reported an emailed Wall Street Journal article. While it focuses on the Disney Princess franchise, an intriguing tidbit of info was mentioned:
"Disney plans to introduce a new African-American princess called Tiana in an animated film, "The Princess and the Frog," a response to demands for more diversity among princesses. Two other animated princess-based movies -- one starring Rapunzel and another starring a Scottish princess in a new Pixar production -- will be rolled out after that."
:o Just from googling this I've seen about as many theories about who she is based on/is as number of places posting this quote. Theories abound like dandelions...its too late for me to read up on any of them, but its very intresting.
As many qualms as I have with Disney Princesses (I made that one uber long post ranting on them all, if any of you randomly remember), I'm fascinated! Though a bit disappointed that she's going to be from Pixar origin...I was so sure that Tiana was marking the rebirth of 2D through the fact she is a princess. So after her, there's Rapunzel and then Scotty, neither of whom are 2D...mreh.
I'll be optimistic. C:
