Rest in Peace, President Hinckley

Kobb and Hobbit Nat already posted great thoughts about President Hinckley's passing (he was the prophet and leader of the LDS (mormon) church), but I wanted to give him a proper message too.

Honestly, I'm really, really happy for him. He missed his wife so much; it must be wonderful to see her again. He's out of the old, tired body and gets to be at home with his wife, his Father in Heaven, and all the past prophets. How cool must that be? He'll have so many people in line to say thank you and tell him how much he influenced their lives.

Last night when I found out (it's crazy how fast news travels through the mormon grapevine...I had a phone conversation with my friend and great-grand-niece of President Hinckley and during those 2 or 3 minutes I got 10 text messages) it was a lot harder. I cried a fair amount and it was just...so surreal. It still is really surreal...but it was harder last night.

I haven't really known, or at least don't remember, any other prophet but him. His spirit was so sweet, his love so genuine, and when he spoke, I could really feel like it was God speaking right through him. I had a good conversation on my knees before bed about the transition from President Hinckley to President Monson and whatnot, and that really helped me today. Now, all the sorry has been replaced by joy.
Joy for President Hinckley's escape from that old body and joy for his reunion with his wife...and joy for the chance to see, first hand, the miracle as the mantle moves from one modern prophet to the next.

So, rest in Peace, President Hinckley. Your work was so much, and so well done. You set a new bar for the entire church, and I won't forget you or the love you had for everyone. I'll keep that with me forever.
