Super Paper Maio!

So….I finished Super Paper Mario!! (no, that’s not where I was this entire time…I was gone on two vacations already, including my brother’s wedding, so…) What a thrilling game!!

I thought the end was really kinda…kinda a let down, though. I mean, the final bosses were so easy! It was fun to play individually, y’know, Bowser against O’Chunks, Peach against Mimi, Luigi against Dimentio, that kinda thing…but those bosses were much harder than Bleck/ Dimentio/ Mr. L…I could have beat the final bosses without the full-health I got from the pure hearts. I still had that ultra-shroom shake I found in the hallway, untouched!

Speaking of pure hearts, they’re kinda weird. I mean really….you spend the entire game trying to get them, and they’re in the weirdest places. In Tippi, in Luvbi…I mean, I recognize that they’re like…the embodiment of love or something, but seriously. Why is it that you spend the entire game trying to get eight of them and then within ten minutes at the end six-freaking-teen get pulled out of thin air to beat the boss? What the heck! If the pure hearts were that anxious to get out of love and stuff, then wouldn’t they just randomly pop up all the time?

And the chaos heart…they never got around to explain how on earth Bowser and Peach’s wedding summoned it. I get that Blumiere and Timpani’s wedding caused it to go away, what with Bleck being the cause anyway and their love being so pure and etcetera, but Bowser and Peach…? I think that Bleck just read “the union between a fair princess and a cruel monster” or whatever and, since everything is connected through fate, he happened to pick our two heroes. That’s what I think.

Y’know, when I was trying to figure out how the chaos heart thing worked (I really think for parts of this game the producers were just like “hai how ‘bouts this guys? I think that’s real good, yeah! How does it work? I dunno…who cares? Its sweet-awesome.”) I realized…dun dun DUN CHANGE OF HEART! Hahaha so when the fic ends I am totally some how mentioning something about the chaos/pure hearts dealing with love and all that…somehow…don’t know how, since this is written with complete ignorance to SPM…but I’ll make it work. XD

Bleck was kind of a weird villain. Besides the fact that he was so darn easy to beat, he just kind of…had no heart. I’m really surprised Tippi still went for him. I mean, even if I was madly in love with a guy, if he snapped and decided to destroy all the worlds since he couldn’t be with him, I’d send him off to anger management classes, not be all “oh I love you, Blumiere, let’s go frolic in a field together and figure out how to get my human body back!” (which, by the way is quite the body…she’s got flowing hair, almost no waist at all (surprise anyone? Ha, not me…), and a foofy skirt to pown Peach’s. Got that all from her silhouette at the “the end” screen.

Speaking of which, I’m thrilled that there’s a post-game. I remember how annoying it was in TYD to try and play after I beat Shadow Queen and wanted to clean up the stuff at the end and everyone’s all “OMGOSH GO SAVE THE WORLD.” Now everyone’s just happy and I can do whatever I want…yey.

Back on the subjects of villains, Dimentio was much better. I finally got used to calling him a he around chapter 4 or so…I thought he was a girl for the longest time. He dresses and speaks very…femininely. But he sure is one kick-awesome villain! He’s suave, clever, magic, outsmarts everyone, and…he’s just cool. He knows what he was doing right to the end…that’s one good villain. I like Bowser because he’s the lovable kind of villain. Dimentio has more of a Scar-esque appeal… but he sure has it.

He’s going on my list of favorite villains. So far it consists of Scar, Bowser, Vlad, Lex Luthor, Damy (whose actually a fancharacter from TLKFAA…hahaha), and now Dimentio. I need to draw those dudes sometimes soon. And get a chick on the list! D:

I so enjoyed playing as Bowser…he’s so darn cute! I used him at every opportune moment, especially since whoever you’re using at the time speaks…so that was extremely fun. His shining moment was most definitely when he was saving the party from the falling ceiling (and fighting with O’Chunks over who was manlier…eee so cute :D) and was all “go! Leave me!”. Peach definitely gave him eyes…she sooooo gave him eyes. Literally stopped, turned around, looked at him and kinda was all “ooh Bowser” and then left. Even people who don’t ship them couldn’t admit that she respects him so much more now. :) Aaaaand when she fell on him, he was “surprisingly soft”. Which I simply must allude to in CoH and every fanfic I write after…:) That made me happy too. Oh, and Peach called Bowser sweet…to which he quickly denied it. Made me laugh because it was exactly like a conversation I have planned for CoH after Bowser’s birthday. Peach calls him sweet and he denies it. XD hope no one things I was copying!

I kinda thought Tippi would fall for Mario, honestly. I mean, everyone seems to fall for him (which I why I don’t feel totally sad for leaving a middle-aged, mustachioed man single after I make Peach dump him…everywhere he goes he gets flanked by fangirls), Vivian did, Goom…uh forgot her name XD. But yeah…Tippi seemed like she had a crush on him for awhile, but obviously not. Mrs. Blumiere isn’t interested in the plumber, methinks.

I must say I loved the Underwhere and the Overthere…namely, Video Game heaven and hell…where they go when their games are over. :) I wish there were more people there, that they had people-ish shapes (my brother says they should have used old video game characters, which I must say would have been hilarious), and interacted with the actual characters, and not just in the “hey look at them! Help us!” way they did. I mean, I think there should have been D-men and the like thrilled to see Lord Bowser and just furious at the very appearance at Mario (being he would have been their killer and such…) and there should have been some debate over where Bowser goes, talk of Peach in the Overthere and such…Jaydes (was it Jaydes? Mmm don’t remember…) mentioned Mario’s fate, but I would have liked to hear about the others.

Overall, I don’t think this game was as good as Thousand Year Door.  TYD just had a muuuuch better plotline, it had more comedy, the worlds were bounds and bounds better, the side-characters were more interesting, and I still miss fighting like that….there was one battle that was RPG style, but it was more of a humor fight, y’know? *sigh* but so is life. Funny thing though, Grodus was weak, kinda like Bleck, while Shadow Queen, kinda like Dimentio, is the true villain who you don’t realize for awhile. But I haven’t played TYD for awhile, so…mm.

I do muchly prefer using Mario, Peach, Bowser, or Luigi over side-kicks though…the pixls worked well too.

Ah…it was a very good game, but there’s still a lot I don’t know. I did go back and get Barry (the little sun pixl from chapter 3…he was a big, big help in the end!) but I haven’t done much else…at all….so, I probably will, some time.

---END SPOILERS. :D---

I have a lot of catching up to do…a lot of pictures I need to draw for TLKFAA and writing to do for CoH…ugh I’ll be busy.
