What I was going to say in the edit was that I've calmed down, for one. I've also poked around Ruukah's gallery a bit and decided that her comment boxes are just as bad (lack of tact) as her Lilymud posts. That is against archive rules. That makes me not quite as upset about her banning.
But I'm still disappointed. Yeah, we're a democracy and need to be open, not pushing beliefs down the throats of others. I know that, I try and do that. The only thing that upsets me is that now that the opressed irl have a haven like TLKFAA/Lilymud where they can express themselves and not be chewed up (or rather, aren't supposed to be chewed up), they often seem to be the ones doing the opressing.
Moral of the story: "I believe" and "In my opinion" are magic words. You say those, you can get away with practically anything as long as it isn't a direct flame. "I believe cookies makes one fly" is okay. Weird, but okay. "I believe hating cookies makes you die" is still weird, but okay. It's an opion, hokay?
"Cookies make you fly-that's a fact!" is not okay. "Your hatred of cookies will make you die, cookie_hate!" is even worse.
Opinions are wonderful, wonderful, democratic things. But let's remember that's all they are, folks! Opinions! Use tact and you've got a bright future! *thumbs up*
