Heidi's kisses were wet.
He remembers when he used a stolen power to pretend be her husband.
She moved beside him in a bed that was not theirs.

Every night she would warm her cold feet on the legs of man she knew she loved.

The whole thing felt perverse and not in the way that once brought him pleasure.
It bothered him.
Knowing the woman he loved, as if she were his true bride and he her true bridegroom, would never truly be in love with him.
He took in a tight breath and released it heavily, reaching for the light switch.
