Cashing in. (Fic)
“What do you want to do tonight Eden?” Gabriel asked as he sat down next to Eden on the couch. He leaned back and pulled her feet into his lap. Eden shook her head and pulled her feet away from his hands, staring at him.
“What?” He said giving her a confused look.
“You know what?” She said continuing to stare at him. Gabriel’s face drained off all blood and his mouth fell opened. “I thought you were joking about that.”
“I would never joke about something like that, Gabriel.” She pulled her feet under her body sitting on them, as her eyes continued to watch him.
“But, Eden - - I.”
“No ‘buts’ Gabe.” She said with an amused quirk to her mouth. “A deal’s a deal. I did it for you and now,” she reached into her pocket and pulled out a flimsy piece of wrinkled up paper “I’m cashing in. Here’s my coupon.”
Gabriel frowned down at the paper as she shoved it into his hands. He took a deep breath, letting it out in a great sigh.
“Nuh-uh. None of that. I want to see ‘happy’!” she said with finger quotations and she started to bounce on the couch. He found it increasingly harder to frown at her when she bounced like that.
“Fine,” His voice came out in barely concealed amusement as he stood up a stuffing the paper into his pocket. His fingers closed over the buttons of his sweater, pulling at the cloth, unloosening fabric.
“No, no, no!” Eden’s voice rang out from behind him. “You’re doing it all wrong!” She sprang up from the couch and dashed over to the tiny stereo system across the room. Grab up the remote and fiddled a few buttons, before sprinting back over, to plop down onto the sofa with a satisfied grin. “Ok.”
Gabriel bit the inside of his lip trying his best not to smile at her. He let out a breath and waited for her. “Are you ready?” he asked. She pressed a button on the remote as her grin grew into a deep, Cheshire cat smile and the first words of the song played.
“OH MY GOD BECKY, LOOK AT HER BUTT!”
Gabriel rolled his eyes and drew his lips into his mouth in an effort to hide his smile.
“Now I’m ready.” She leaned back into the couch lacing her fingers behind her head, stretching slightly. “I'm gonna just gonna sit here and watch you work that man cardigan.”
