Hey all,
I'm again participating in the CROP Walk this year. Every year around the country ecumenical groups come together to raise money to fight poverty and hunger both in local communities and third world countries.
The funds go to building water reservoirs near villages, teaching individuals how to provide for themselves with advanced skills in farming, carpentry, technology, medicine, economics and so on. A donation of $10 can provide enough malaria medicine for all of the children in a village - death by dehydration due to malaria is the number one killer of children around the world. A donation of $20 would outfit a house with running water. A donation of $50 would provide a family with a cow - which in turn would provide the family with an ongoing income. $100 would be enough for both lessons in carpentry as well as the basic tools.
A quarter of all the donations go to local food banks and shelters to help with the indigent and food insecure people in our own neighborhoods.
Please
donate online (or contact me if you prefer to donate cash or by check).
We walk to raise awareness for the poor and hungry. We walk because they walk.
