When I create art, I am frequently confronted by people who "don't get it". (Writing, for me. Sometimes photography.) Perhaps even a majority of people who have been exposed to my art (in the singular instance, not those who chose to follow it) have found something offensive, objectionable, or confusing. This does not mean it is not art, nor a valid statement.
Someone (I don't know who) once said that the point of art is just to make you feel. Confusion is a feeling.
There's a logical following in that somewhere.

I don't think we're disagreeing here. I'm just struck by the number of artists who look all surprised when there's any kind of reaction - or in the Andrew Dice Clay realm, persue reactions and then get pissy when they're not what they were hoping for.
For you, you might find your audience(s) and create stuff geared to them. You might also edit and write further drafts to zero in on the message you intend.
