Auction for Fundraising

Aug 24, 2014 21:47

Hello again, peeps =D I can't believe it's been a while since I last updated this journal. Anyway, shall we cut to the chase?

So I got this idea from several other writers who have done this in the past, and I want to do the same.  Someone I know just participated in the 40 hours of famine challenge to raise funds too, so I was inspired even more to do so.

And that's what I'm planning.  I'll be holding an auction for the right to get a story from me.  You can even group together with friends to win the bid.  The winner gets to dictate the length, the genre, the trope/the plot, and the pairing(s).  However, I do not write anything above PG-13 (and my past NC-17s were bad anyway).

The length I will agree to will of course correspond with the bid (eg I won't write a 50k novel for $5), and there will be a minimum bid.  For bids over a certain amount, I will even agree to give up the rights to the story.  So if you don't want me to post on a public journal and want to keep it for yourself, then I'll send the soft copy to you and it's up to you who you want to share it with and what you do with it (as long as there's no money made from this, as it defeats the whole purpose of this endeavour).

The specifics will be posted later, along with details on how the auction will run, if we go through with it.  I just want to know whether there are people who will support me through this.  So if you're for the auction, please drop a comment.  It's probably not going to run before 1 October 2014 though, because I have other writing commitments before then.

The funds raised from this will be donated 100% to the charity I've chosen.  I will not take any money out of it for myself.  If they give me a receipt, I don't mind posting a pic of the receipt here to prove it (note that the amount of the winning bid and the amount paid to the charity might be a bit different because of the conversion rate).  The charity I've chosen to support is the RED CROSS.  I thought that since I'm going to donate my blood to them anyway, why not support them financially too?  I can't donate blood yet, because I've just had a major dental surgery, and I might not be able to donate my blood because of certain medical reasons, and that's why I want to do this.

Long story short: I'm going to hold an auction to raise funds for Red Cross.  The winner will get a story from me, and they get to dictate what they want the story to be like, and whether it's posted online or kept in private (sent via email).  I also promise that I will finish that story, and that before it's done, I'm not taking any other project, to give it priority.

The details will follow, but first I want to know if there are people who will support me through this. So please leave a comment if you will =)
