May 11, 1736-Continued
Tirgoviste, Romania
We gave VIggo the adress of where we were staying, and told him to meet us there in three days. Then we would begin. As we were leaving, Viggo shook our hands and melted into the shadows and was gone. We walked home through the small town streets, and I could not shake the feeling that we were being watched. A terror began to make its way up my spine in a rising intensity, and I knew that Markus could feel it too, as one hand gripped the silver tempered sword at his belt, and the other his rosary. Suddenly, off in the distance, in the mountain foot hills abouve the forest, Several bright lights appeared. The y seemed to be bonfires, but they contined to burn bringhter and brighter. SHouts arose from the people in the town, and they locked thier doors and windows. By this time I could barely restrain my urge to bolt and hide. Then, the lights leapt high into the air, and started speeding...toward us! A low hum began, which, as the lights came overhead, rose to a deafening screech. Markus began to run to where we were going, and I could not have been happier to oblige. Later, when they passed, the terror did as well. Here, in my room, detached from the situation, I can Identify the screech for what it truly was. It was some sort of hideous laughter. Perhaps maybe I can go to sleep; perhaps not.
