i had this dream last night. and there were other parts to them, some really funny parts but when i pared it down, this is what it came down to. and after re-reading it, it's kind of bleak,...but oh well. here it is:
humanity had built a fortress
to keep people in and to keep disease and pain out.
this was supposed to be a utopia where people had no fears or worries. there was no need for money here, everything was shared and the entire system depended on peoples ability to coexist.
the core of this whole operation lay in the hands of a computer whose intelligence exceeded that of ours. it regulated everything, but also did things for us.
eventually, the humans got annoyed with one another and began trying to sabotage one another.they would approach the computer asking for help to do so.
one day a whole community asked the computer to let the outside disease in. just a little to hurt another community or other individuals.
the computer did so. but when people started dying at an allarming rate, the people sought out the computer once again, this time asking for a reversal of their actions. fed up with the humans inability to be decisive, to work in the fashion designed for them, seeing how the humans had no ability to coexist peacefully for prolonged periods of time, the computer shut itself down and passed its higher knowledge down to someone else, a child who would then find a way to isolate itself from everyone else and the disease and be able to find a way to start the process over again.
the people had found out where the child was, and in the midst of desperation, they chased the child until it found a place to hide. locked the door and sealed the gaps so the disease couldn't get in. the people continued to bang on the walls of the shelter. the sound was unbearable.
the child found a gun in the shelter, and killed itself.
