It's so difficult to write coherently when I'm falling asleep. Really, I need to put errands off for a half-hour or so in the mornings so I can try writing while fully awake. I try to use praise sparingly for both kids, lest they grow up expecting it for things they should be doing anyway. Because they won't get it in Real Life. I let them know when I appreciate them or their efforts, and try to always say thank you (and mean it when I say it). Seems like an okay thing so far, but then they're not old enough yet to demand that I put them through therapy.
Max is currently going through a Christmas catalog we got in the mail, circling all the things he wants with a marker. :) Khai is coughing next to me on the sofa. He tried to tell me this morning that when his daddy was a little boy, he really lived in a different place where he spoke Spanish. I tried to explain to him that you were born in TX and have always lived here, but that you just know some Spanish words. "NO." I told him that he knows some Spanish words, too, but that he has always lived in Texas. "But I learned mine in school." My efforts to dissuade him failed and he is still convinced you grew up in Mexico. Or maybe Spain? Shiny!
