A Time Of Ghosts

It seems that every day I am hearing about people who feel that they've just never been able to truly get over a lost love.
It makes me sad, this nostalgia that human beings can carry for so long in their hearts. This feeling of longing or emptiness or sorrow for a person they loved desperately and whom-- for one reason or another-- they can never see and/or be with again.
Usually, these are tales involving an ex who moved on in one way or another.
I'm certainly no stranger to these feelings, although I realized long ago that what I felt wasn't a sense of lost love, but rather a sense of unfinished business. You never really lose the love part of an equation, because love is eternal and unchanging. You only lose the direct expression of it through a certain person in your life. It is only our egos that tell us we have lost the love once we have lost the person.
There are some things in life that you never really get over or get closure on.
So, for this Halloween and upcoming Day Of The Dead, I honor those of you who linger in the past with ghosts of once ago loves.
I hope you don't feel too sad for what is no longer and that you understand that nothings lasts, but nothing is lost (to quote Shpongle).
Chances are, that person didn't deserve you anyway.
Much love and a Happy Halloween.
