I never thought I would be caught in the middle of anything like this...
At 4am we were in the office at the hospital when the fire alarm started going off. Me and my partner thought nothing of it because the alarm always goes off. Until we heard about 4-6 fire companies be called for a working structure fire at the hospital with a truck into the building...
We jumped up and woke the other two guys up...and ran upstairs top speed.....we were greeted with choking smoke... we couldnt see anything and everyone was gone from the ER. I started running towards the waiting room and we were met by one nurse who said, "There's a truck that crashed into the waiting room, its on fire, and i think the driver is still in the truck....you cant to it from here you have to go outside."
We ran outside and around the building only to be greeted by smoke and dry chem dust... then I saw it... a pickup truck into the waiting room, our waiting room (which is eerily located directly above our office)... on fire. We scooped the driver up who was lying on the ground in the garden and come to find out he did it because he wanted to kill himself.
Amazingly and thankfully, no one else was hurt just a little rattled.
Just remember people....anything can happen at any time.... please be careful out there.
