Yesterday, went to Six Flags with Matt (from work), Joe (from Nottingham), and Steph (from the EMT class I taught). Was a great day, and Superman was AWESOME!!! Batman used to be my favorite coaster...but it has now been way overshadowed!
On a lovely day today, might I add...Kaylan and his friend met up with me and I held up my promise... I showed them Kingston Fire Dept. and Kingston Rescue Squad. We hung out at the squad all day while Kaylan recertified his friend Rich for CPR. We were hoping for a call so that we could finally do a ride-a-along together but of course nothing happened.
Took them for some REAL pizza and they seemed to have enjoyed it greatly. And as with all good things, it was time to drop them off at the train station (inbound for NYC). Of course what happens on the way to drop them off? A call!! Figures!
I drove back to the firehouse to earn my credit for the call and hung out for the work detail... then suddenly at 8:30 EST:
"KDR-767, Station 24 (Kingston), Station 20 (Monmouth Junction), Ladder 22 (Kendall Park), Engine 49-3 (Plainsboro), Tower 62 (Princeton), and a few others... respond for a working house fire!"
You're kidding me!!
A wild attic fire, HOT, cooking, and rolling! So hot in fact it put more battle scars and melt marks on my helmet.
No one got hurt and all turned out ok... it got hairy when the attic flashed out the side of the house... blowing its heat down on us on the stairs (which is where my helmet got burnt)... it was so hot that the water didnt even hit the fire... 120gpm at 200psi... evaporated as soon as it left the nozzle (even with a straight stream)!! Thanks to Ladder 22 we had some cooling action from their monitor... and we were able to attack again...
Im pooped!
Then Friday night, Tony and I will be off to NYC to meet up with a bunch of people at the Slaughtered Lamb!! WOO!
