i did this for 2007, and I decided that it would be beneficial for my future self if I record all the highlights of the year. If I do this every year, I can have a nice brief summary of my life starting from 2007.
so without further ado, here's a recap with pictures:
we'll start with my birthday, since i don't remember anything happening in january
Birthday!
my brother threw me a surprise birthday, and it was definitely the best birthday ever! complete with an awesome beastie cake
SXSW!!
it was the first year that I volunteered, and I had so much fun, and i met so many awesome film people. meeting and talking to adam yauch was definitely the best moment of my life.
Forty Acres Fest!
we had The Roots perform, and it was a really great show. ?uestlove is pretty awesome.
Preview Screening for Pineapple Express!
being able to see pineapple express 3 months early, and watching it with the actors + director was way cool. getting pictures with james franco and seth rogen was pretty cool, too.
Greece!
I went to greece with Tracy and my parents. We went with a tour group, and it was loads of fun...good food lots of rock walking.
Jaime Cheng's Birthday!
I went to Plano with Tracy and Thuy to celebrate my favorite/bestest friend/cousin's birthday! We had lots of fun, and I liked meeting all of Jaime's friends. We also watched lots of movies while we were there. Dark Knight, Mamma Mia, The Wackness, and Gunnin' for that #1 spot.
The Dark Knight!
I ended up watching this movie 4 times in the theaters, and I was mesmerized by Heath Ledger's Joker every single time. I think i began to develop a creepy/sick crush on him.
Breaking Dawn!
No matter how embarrassing this might be in the future (even now), my whole summer was pretty much dedicated to Twilight. I would talk about it constantly with Thuy and Tracy. And the release of Breaking Dawn was (pathetically) the highlight of my summer. We made shirts. The book was pretty good, too.
ACL!
i unexpectedly went to ACL for a day. It was definitely an experience.
GLA!
that guy on the left is GLA (good-looking aussie). Jaime and I bought meat pies from him during SXSW. Randomly, 7 months after we took this picture, he was brought up in a conversation, and we tried to determine what his name might be (
refer to this blog post). Well, anyways, he ended up finding Jaime's blog and contacting her. Needless to say, we found out his name. now, we're all facebook friends. Probably the most random/amazing thing ever.
Austin Film Festival!
Tracy and Thuy came to Austin, and we saw lots of films. We expected to meet Robert Pattinson, but instead, we met Zachary Levi...which is even better than meeting Rob. We were also invited to a hotel "party" thing by some budding film people...um yeah. I need to go to more film festivals.
Halloween! +start of best weekend ever!
This was my best costume idea I've ever came up with, and my dad did an awesome job printing it. Most fun halloween ever.
Get Out and Vote Tour!
so after 3 hours of sleep from halloween (def not in the best state), i drove to houston at 9am to take a flight to chicago, so I could see a Beastie Boys show in Milwaukee. It was great fun. I love my beastie friends! and we gave Adrock cheese. Tenacious D was also there...great fun, indeed. also, i voted for the first time, and the guy that i voted for won! yay obama!-end best weekend ever-
Hayden's Ranch
Went to Hayden's Ranch with most of my college/brother's friends, and we just chilled (literally). I saw a bunch of shooting stars. It was a nice get-away trip
Twilight movie!
The cheesiest movie ever!! i loved it. However, I would rather not be classified as a twilight fan-girl.
Vegas!
went to vegas with my parents to see The Beatles Love Cirque Du Soleil. It was magnificent. I also ate soo much good food in vegas.
New Year's Eve!
and finally, I celebrated new year's eve in austin with jaime! It was a blast!
Slumdog Millionaire!
and slumdog millionaire gets honorable mention because it was my favorite movie of the year. i have a crush on dev patel now.
so, that concludes my 2008. I know I said 2007 was the best year ever, but 2008 definitely came close...it had a lot of "best ever's." also, i am starting to realize that much of my highlights are based on meeting celebrities. I wish my life wasn't based on meeting people who just happen to be successful in the world of film or music, but for some reason, i am completely fascinated by the world of film...and beastie boys.
2009 should be a great year, as well! I'm looking forward to SXSW, Comic-Con(!!), and AFF!
