Day/Night 43

Day One

You know, when I ran away from home to go to Whispering Rock Psychic Summer Camp, I never imagined that by the end of the week I'd discover a plot for world domination, get swallowed by a giant lungfish, defeat a maniacal dentist, have my first kiss, foil said plot for world domination... and somehow end up in an insane asylum staffed with nurses telling me that all the stuff I just mentioned didn't actually happen.

Obviously, things aren't looking so hot for me.

The place is called Landel's. The nurses tell me that my real name is Greg. GREG. First thing they did is drag me out of bed to this large lounge-type room known as the Sun Room. There, I talked to a fellow patient; a woman who goes by the name Dahlia Hawthorne. She told me about the monsters in this place. That's right, you read correctly, there are monsters. Some hospital, huh? I started to get a little suspicious of her, though, so I tried reading her mind. That's when I realized that, for some reason, my powers don't work! Well, they kinda do, but not as well as they normally do. I was able to detect that this Dahlia lady was hiding things from me, though, so I parted with her as fast as I could.

In the Sun Room, there's a bulletin board where all the patients communicate. Through that, I was able to arrange a meeting with a 'veteran' of this place, and a psychic duel with someone really obsessed with math. I also briefly talked to this nice guy named Scott Pilgrim. He's new here too.

After I was done with the sun room, I asked the nurse to take me somewhere else. Probably because I'm a kid, she brought me to the Arts & Crafts room. Which was kinda lame, especially since I met the jerk that I challenged. Did I mention that he's obsessed with math? 'cause he is. Soon enough, I got tired of dealing with him, so I returned to the Sun Room to talk to Porky, who told me that all the patients are from different worlds!

So let's recap: Landel's Institute is a hospital that kidnaps people from different dimensions and tells them that their lives were all in their imagination, while at the same time makes them a whole lot weaker so that they'll be vulnerable to bloodthirsty monsters at night.

I have no idea if I'm going to survive here or ever escape, but if I do, then it'll go down as one of the greatest Psychonaut adventures of all time. If I don't, well... I guess that's why I have this journal to tell the tale.

Night One
So last night was a horrible failure.

I snuck out to the Sun Room for my duel with Equation McMathnumber. On the way, I bumped into a psychic who called himself Abe Sapien. I asked if he wanted to come and watch, but it seemed that he wasn't interested. Nice guy, though! Anyway, so I met up with my duel partner and we were gonna fight, but then we were interrupted by some dick who thought we were all in prison! He broke some of Mathman's equipment and he immobilized me with this weird, sticky substance... kinda like a spider web, come to think of it. Afterwards, he dragged us all back to our rooms and night ended.

Yeah, that's it. So much for "one of the greatest Psychonaut adventures of all time," huh?

It got me thinking, though... why am I wasting my time dueling math nerds? I should be trying to escape, or helping other people! From now on, those are going to be my top priorities.
