Well I'm back from my 3rd trip to Japan, which as always was awesome. Went to some really great new places, of which
Nokogiriyama was the
highlight. I also saw some
sumo bouts in Ryogoku which was really cool. Our trip coincided with two festivals which we got to attend: The
Sanja matsuri in Asakusa and the
Nikko spring festival. Both of which added some new colour to otherwise familiar places. The weather was pretty kind to us, but we did have a couple of wet days. The hottest day in Tokyo peaked at 29ºC. I think the coldest it got was the mid-teens.
From a photography stand point I was very pleased with the selection of lenses I took with me. My dream team of two primes, an ultrawide zoom and a telephoto zoom worked out well. As I was seeing quite a few of places we went to for a 3rd time I got the chance to focus in on details and things more than before, which is one of the things I enjoy doing with photography. My new
Lowerpro photo-backpack actually worked out too, and turned out to be very practical and comfortable to wear. I'm somewhat relieved I won't have to stick it straight on eBay like I did with my last big camera bag.
As usual there are a selection of photos in my
Flickr stream.
