I just had to preen that I successfully removed a brown bat from our house today without (1) screaming, (2) just closing the door and opening windows, or (3) pretending I couldn't find it until I was safely on a plane to LA later on today.
It is also a good thing that said bat was all folded up in bat-like position and not wings-open, since he was much larger than originally estimated. Most of the brown bats that have gotten in the house have been little, this one probably had a 4" body and 10" wingspan, twice the normal size of our house bats. (In the past, the cats have also found the bats before we have, so removal has been a little easier.)
