So, going on what this part has described, Pyramid Head represents James' self-loathing? It'd make sense considering he has to face him in order to truly be free from the past.
Wow, poor James. Beating on a girl who resembles the wife he remembers dying but then remembers killing is gotta be tough. What happens to that girl he met (Angela I think?) Did she kill herself or something?
I showed it in Part 2--the last shot you see of Angela, she's walking up a flaming stairway. It's kind of left open, but it's likely she killed herself, or maybe the town eventually got her.
Basically--the town "calls" to people who have done something terrible or had something terrible done to them. It's almost like an entity that feeds off of negative energy or something.
