Macross Frontier: PIMP POST
Macross Frontier is just about the only anime that has managed to have completely eaten my HEAD in such a way that I end up humming the songs as I go around doing whatever I do in RL. XD This show is filled with so much AWESOME, I tell you, that putting together a pimp post was really really hard. The only thing that would really do it justice would be an MV, but the creators already did the BEST ONE EVAR in the finale of the show! (and if this doesn't tell you what type of anime this is, I don't know what else will. XDXDXD)
Still, I'm gonna try my best! HERE WE GO!

1. I can no longer remember the start of this journey

I actually cheated, since this is the medley of all the songs that have an impact in the show, but indulge me. This is some awesome music people! Which is a given, as in Macross Frontier, music is the food of love the key to saving the UNIVERSE! Or otherwise, the power to destroy it, take your pick. And that's exactly the dilemma that faces our three main characters.
2. What is this triangle for?
Meet Alto Saotome.
While being very pretty, he's actually quite badass and looks good in uniform.
Alto does the usual main charactery things of being a gifted pilot and getting opportunities that most of us only dream about, but the show takes a lot of digs at him too. Other than playing up his beauty at every opportunity, he's not very important in the grand scale of things. No really. XD
Next up, SHERYL NOME.
Sheryl Nome may appear to be just another fun-loving girl, but she's also a great superstar. So much so that Alto can't go out with her without stumbling upon great big pictures of her.
She's also one of the select few who can SAVE THE UNIVERSE THROUGH SONG.
Saving the universe!
Sheryl can be considered one of the main movers of the story, since quite a few of the characters meet because of her concert. And she's the one who inspired the next main character...
RANKA LEE
Isn't she just the cutest little thing??? She starts off being a cutesy little girl with a hair that has personality, but is inspired by Sheryl to take up a singing career of her own. Which is good and bad: her song is MORE POWERFUL than Sheryl's when it comes to saving the universe, but it also seems to attract bad guys...
The KIRA that will save the universe? Or destroy it?
The three are in a love triangle that forms the crux of the story. Macross Frontier could be summarised as "The Rise of Ranka Lee" or "Phoenix from the Ashes: the Dramatic Return of Sheryl Nome!" I like to think of it as both stories, but as told by Alto.
3. I want to survive!
Toss the music and the love story against a background of a galatic space war, and you get a SPACE OPERA. Which is really what Macross Frontier boils down to in the end. If the music didn't seem much to you at the beginning, you will definitely like it AFTER you've seen them featured in the show. The music is woven so closely to the story that you can't help but associate the music with those particular scenes. Add on a good plot and an intriguing love story, what more could you want?
Oh I know. GOOD ANIMATION AND MECHA.
