I can even begin to describe how pissed I am right now. I'm shaking and can't gather my thoughts correctly, so this may seem a little bit out of sorts. Let's begin by saying that $109 is about two days of work for me, minus taxes and deductions before I get my paycheck.
Yesterday was my first Nutrition class. I had taken this class before, so I asked the teacher if I could use the previous edition of the textbook since they usually don't mind that. She said a resounding NO. So today I went to the closer, shittier campus in hopes that htey would have it. They didn't, of course, so i had to make the drive to main campus to get it. Then, parking was absolutely horrible, and of course I was wearing heels, so I got to walk at least a half mile (that's no exaggeration,
nekogonya might get the distance when I say I had to park at the sports fields), just to give this fucking school my money. I got my book, waited in the long ass line, took the trek back to my car, drove home, and ate.
All would have been well had I not decided to compare the books. Basically, the book goes in a binder, and this one didn't come with a binder, so I thought I'd just use the other one's and compare as I was switching them. The covers were different so I wanted to know what else was.
I looked a few pages in and nothing seemed different, but I was sure I'd get ot the page where the second edition would say what changed. Oh, I did.
Do you see any differences there? I sure as hell don't! THE BOOKS ARE EXACTLY THE SAME. You may think I'm exaggerating, but I think that's really shark like of the college and the publishers, and that 109 fuck my life dollars down the fucking drain. Money that could have been spent on something I would actually enjoy, money that I worked hard for, is now gone and i can't get it back. Since I took the plastic wrap off, the store will not take it back. FUCK. THIS. SHIT. This is exactly why I left college and i kind of feel like not going back now.
EDIT: Granted, I do take some of the blame for not looking at my original book in more depth before buying another one, but the question still remains as to why they would say something is a new edition when it really isn't.
