Recently in response to our successful shows in Bakersfield my bandmate Carlos tells me jokingly that I'm the new Jonathon Davis of Bakersfield. it took me a minute to process the irony of this statement although I was flattered. I grew up in a shitty boring town in Northern California, I would take the bus listening to Korn on my cd player. I must emphasize the word CD PLAYER because at the time Ipods barely existed and if you had one that basically meant that you had a lot of money and that you were somehow a part of the wave of the unpredictable future of booming technology that ended the need to carry 50 different cds in your backpack like I always did. Hahahaha. Anyways; I would take the bus down Hesperian Blvd after school listening to Korn, I would get off a few stops ahead to take the intentionally preferred long walk home. I would listen to the words of the songs walking in tears, a sixteen year old troubled metal head kid with a broken heart. Now I am jokingly addressed as the new Jonathon of Bakersfield. Surely one must recognize the humor in the irony of the statement. That was the life six years ago!
ANYWAYS! That was a long time ago and my life is a lot brighter and cheerier now and I am stoked for tonight's gig. Let the truth be known that I love Bakersfield. This place has been really good to me.
