As I've already told 300 billion people, online class discussions can kiss my ass. Why? Because they involve 90 billion people who are in fields that you're OBVIOUSLY not super-interested in (hence you did a Ph.D. in SOMETHING ELSE) and those people usually hijack the discussion and take it some route in which the IS no discussion because no one knows the jargon or what's being referenced. Add to that the fact that the discussion is part of your grade, the people write 50 page board posts, and THEN 90 professors from the host department decide to hop in and basically TELL people they're bringing up irrelevant shit, and you've got the best online discussion ever. Note to self: be careful when choosing departments from which to take your outside courses.
Unrelated, but worth the typing: I'm so glad I got involved with tutoring again. It's really becoming the highlight of my week EVERY week :-D. The task will be teaching myself how to help kids develop their own literacy and math skills.
Okay, this isn't very short. Anyway, now I'm thinking about the fact that Halloween is soon. I want a Halloween party. I also have the facilities for such a party. New Brunswick also has party facilities (i.e. restaurants, clubs, and bars). The only unknowns here: Who the bleep would come to my party if I had one? And will I even be in town? I applied for some future faculty development institute in FL and I haven't heard back about whether I qualified for the funding to go (obviously, if I get the funding, I will go, even if it means no Halloween party).
Yay, fun stuff. Hopefully I don't get too lazy to update. Send me Twitter hate mail if I do???
