Why Arashi?

Would you look at this? I'm actually starting to post stuff on livejournal! Stuff, no one's going to read haha. But I feel I wanna write a few posts about Arashi anyway, because they give me so much inspiration lately!

As I said in my last mini post, I fairly recently got into Arashi. And the only bad thing I can say about that is this: Dear god, why am I so late?!
I mean, they debuted 17 years ago and I only hear of them now? Gah!

Since I watched the first Arashi concert (The Digitalian), this band of wonderful idiots has taken over my life and those friends of mine, who don't know them keep asking me - why Arashi?
I've been into loads of Japanese stuff and I've listened to my fair share of J-Pop over the years, been to an An Café concert many years ago and all that, but I've never really gone crazy about a Japanese boyband before. I might not have gone this crazy about any band before for that matter.

So what is it about Arashi?

The first thing I ever saw of Arashi was some of their concert DVDs at my friends place. And after the initial "wtf are they wearing what's with all the crazy bling bling" phase, I just really enjoyed their performances. I think at first I saw it as an interesting and impressive show with uplifting songs that put me in a good mood. But what really sold me was seeing how much fun they have, themselves. They just enjoy this so much. And seeing how happy they are made me happy, too!

So this is what got me curious and I started looking up more concerts at home and then gradually their other stuff like interviews, music shows, variety shows, charitey events etc. and at some point I was just completely gone. XD

I think there are mainly three things that make Arashi so unique and loveable (at least for me):

1.) They are not perfect. This is a thing that appeals to me a lot, because when you look at celebrities and bands I often get this feeling that they're presented as perfect and somehow seem fake to me. Arashi isn't like that. While of course J&A certainly puts loads of restrictions on them, they seem so natural. Their looks are not perfect, their singing is not perfect, their dancing is not perfect. And that's beautiful. They feel very unique to me and that's what I really love about them.

2.) Their friendship. I've seen a lot of interviews and posts about how their biggest appeal is their bond with each other. And I cannot deny the truth of this. They are five completely different people and without Arashi they might never have been friends. I think Jun even said this in an interview before. But through Arashi they formed this beautiful bond and just looking at those five together makes me so happy. (I'm weak against friendship stories of any kind haha) They love each other and have so much fun together, it's wonderful.

3.) They love their fans and they love Arashi. The first part is very clear when you watch their concerts. They love love love what they do and they love their fans. The way their eyes light up when their fans are screaming their name and the way they keep screaming "THANK YOU!" until their voices are horse, you can really feel their love. They always go that extra mile to put on a wonderful show for their fans and their grateful for everyone's support. And with all that love from the fans they always say no one loves Arashi more than Arashi and that's just the main thing about them really. They love what they do. They love Arashi. And you can see and feel it. And that's what makes them so great. That's what makes them stand out so much to me. This is what made fall into this hell that I will never regret. <3

Arashi are the best! <3 They made me laugh, they made me cry and they make me want to be a better person. I love them so much. <3
I also just simply love them because of their songs! Even though I barely understand they lyrics, they are so uplifting and positiv!

And well, then there's also this guy:

Mr. life ruiner no. 1, who makes me laugh and cry until I break down
