Okay, I'm sorry, but reading about how chemical weapons work is one of the coolest things I have done in awhile. I love you, school library. Let's go, bio minor! And I am completely skipping the sections on ethics and misuses of biotech for the cool stuff. This one deactivates acetylcholinesterase. This one leads to liver cancer and has been considered for use as a long-range ethnic cancer. This one paralyzes the muscles of the respiratory system.
And this book is so dry that I'm finding it funny.
Presumably, the function of the toxin, in evolutionary terms, is to kill the various affected mammalian species so that the bacterium can grow in the anaerobic conditions of their dead bodies and then be distributed into the environment as the bodies decompose.
I lol'd. Something about a dubious tone + dramatic wording/main idea sounds like the ohgodwe'reallgoingtodieanyway doctor in scifi and I have a mental image of a cartoon guy in a lab coat with a chalkboard with this total 'you guys this isn't going to work' face with a whole bunch of other guys going OH YES IT WILL WHOOO.
I also think that hip hop/club music is in the same color hues as Lisa Frank, and while I know it will never be found in nature and is quite possibly blinding (deafening) and offensive, I admire it anyway. T-Pain and Pitbull are my neon pink and purple kittens.
...My brain, y'all. Welcome to it.
