Tutorial #4 - Winry Rockbell
I started watching & reading Fullmetal Alchemist today. Ohmygosh I loved it XD! Al is so cute, Roy is a smexi beast, Ed is hilarious and Winry is mental... Anyway. Here is a little icon tutorial I cooked up today. I was in a mood, and history homework is so sucky :D!

First things first, you need to prepare your base. I got a manga scan of Winry and coloured it. I then merged all layers, re sized and duplicated the merged layers. Set the duplicate to overlay before using gaussian blur, about 2.00, and adjusting the opacity. I then erased the background and used a preset PSP pattern to give Winry a nice pink/purple background instead of that nasty white one!
Next, I got a nice red gradient and slapped that over the top on soft light, 100%.

Next, I added this lovely little pink/red texture over the top and set that to lighten, 100%, then mirrored it.

It's looking nice and bright, isn't it? Well, to darken it a little I added a dark blue on exclusion 5%, and a grey on burn 100%

Much nicer :D Next, I duplicated the first gradient and moved it to the top:

I then added a light texture (by ?) over the top on screen, and rubbed out where it went over her face.

Finally, I added "Winry" in Georgia, capitals size 5, with tiny text under it.
