Okay, she's not the main character, but she insisted this was an important part of the tale. And Natsuko-chan agrees with her, so what can I do? *smile*

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
“I-I'm go-oing ho-o-ome! I-I'm go-oing ho-o-ome!”

“Sakura-chan?”

Sakura peered through the silver mists, looking for the source of the voice. The child seemed quite happy with the thought that she was going to return. Finally, she spotted a movement: a little girl dressed in a green sailor uniform and sandals running a short distance away.

“Sakura-chan.”

Someone calling her name. But there was the little girl. She wasn't singing anymore. Now, she was hiding protectively behind that black haired pilot that they had met about two weeks ago. He was sitting at a desk doing some paperwork while the three or four year old peeked cautiously at Sakura around the back of his chair.

Sakura studied the child curiously. Her hair was soft and black and arranged cutely so as to frame the top of her head with two arcs that joined to look like a heart. Her eyes were a rich, amber color with tiny flecks in them that seemed to sparkle subtly. Her pale golden skin, too, shimmered as if it had tiny flecks of glitter in it. Her face echoed her heart shaped hair, wide at the top with her eyes set a bit far apart and narrowing down to a pointy chin.

“Sakura-chan?”

“Hmm?”

Sakura threw her arm in front of her face protectively as the teenaged girl in front of her yelled. “Tomoyo-chan?” Tomoyo wasn't supposed to be here. Sakura bravely tried to peer around her arm as the strong wind blew the dust particles at her. The little girl had suddenly dashed around the man and grown up. Now, she was wearing a pair of strappy golden sandals, a flowing miniskirt of bright electric blue, and a white top with a gold and white bow at her breast. There was another bow behind her back, its streamers of gold and electric blue whipping wildly about her. Long, dark ropes also flew around her as she pointed one gloved finger at Sakura. The sorceress had the faint impression that there were iridescent wings, too, as she fell backwards into the mist.

“Sakura-chan...”

Tomoyo's voice was almost lost in the bright chiming of crystal bells. And then she heard another voice, one that seemed as familiar as the outfit the teenager in front of her was wearing. A deep, amused voice that was still somehow very feminine. “The children do seem to like to cause you trouble, don't they...”

“Yo.”

Just as she was about to see the owner of the voice, a sharp blow on the top of her head brought Sakura back to her surroundings. “Ow! Ah!” she exclaimed as she straightened up and reached up to rub the sore spot.

“Suwa-kun!” Tomoyo exclaimed in a reprimanding tone.

Her self appointed body guard ignored her and looked at Sakura calmly. “Tomoyo wants you.”

“Oh!” she exclaimed, and then turned to her best friend with an expectant look. “Yes, Tomoyo-chan?”

The dark haired girl glared unhappily at the boy, and then reached out and put her hand on Sakura's shoulder. “Are you all right?”

“Heh? Oh.” Sakura laughed as she rubbed her head ruefully. “He didn't hit me that hard. Besides, you know I have a hard head.”

Tomoyo relaxed and then reached for her lunch once more. “It was nothing important... I was just wondering what you were thinking about. You looked so serious... There's nothing wrong between you and Li-kun is there?”

“Heh? Syaoran-kun and I? Oh, no, no!” Sakura replied with a blush as she waved her hands in the air. “No, it was nothing,” she added as she picked up her own lunch. “Let's eat!”

Tomoyo made a small, unconvinced sound and then glanced at the boy who was eating with them. Now that Sakura was paying attention to her, he had turned his attention back to his fried rice burger and miso soup. She didn't let his apparent distraction fool her, though. Suwa Kurogane was always aware of everything going on around him. “Is it something like... those fainting episodes you had last year?” she asked, trying to ask if it was something magic related without directly asking that.

“Hmmm? Oh.” Sakura slumped a little as she remembered just how well Tomoyo knew her. And then she straightened and smiled reassuringly. “No, nothing like that. Just a strange dream, that's all.” As she thought about the incident with her Cards the previous spring, she suddenly remembered why the girl's uniform seemed familiar and where she had heard that deep, mysterious voice before. “Oh!” she exclaimed as she sat up straight.

“Sakura-chan?” Tomoyo asked curiously. As she studied her best friend's expression, a slow smile grew on her face. She had been right. It was magic related, and Sakura had just figured something out. Soon, she would be needing an outfit, and Tomoyo had just the thing in mind. She just had to get her friend to a private area so she could determine if it would be appropriate for the situation or if she would have to design another one.

Note: Suwa-kun is Kurogane. I named him after the country he was from, since his father was its ruler/defender and his mother was its priestess/defender. But since neither of you have read TRC, you wouldn't know that. ^-^ In TRC, he is presented as Tomoyo's devoted (though uncontrollable) samurai. No matter the world, he will never serve anyone but Tomoyo. *nods* Whether Tomoyo will ever return his crush is another story that we haven't heard yet, hahaha.
