On Thursday Raya and I went with Grandma, Aunt Emily, and Cousin Sawyer to the Children's Museum. I had sworn I would not take her until she was walking, just b/c of the logistics of it, but it was way too hot to go to the fair as we had planned (and we also found out the kids can ride absolutely zero rides there until they are at least 42 inches tall....and Sawyer is 2.5 years old and no where near that tall! He won't be able to ride rides until he's stinkin' 4!) So yeah, pointless to go to a fair with no rides.
In the end Raya did seem to enjoy the museum, even as a non walker. She will definitely have even more fun there once she's walking, but she still was able to play with quite a bit. She did seem a little overwhelmed by all the people and kids though.
I took a bunch of pictures, so get ready for the picture parade!
Here is Sawyer playing peek a boo with Raya in the car on the way there :-) (oh, and Grandma, I'm realizing now that you do not have Sawyer's car seat straps in the right place! Those blue pads go up on top of his shoulders, and that black plastic peice below them needs to be securely at the level of his nipples. You better be buckling Raya in correctly this weekend! :-P)
The first room we went to at the museum was the grocery store. Raya checked out the bakery items first
SHe thought the muffin looked best
Sawyer did his own shopping in the dry goods section :-)
Raya eventually got a cart and shopped for fruit...but she kept her muffin in there too!
Next we went to the pizza place and the kids made pizzas. First Raya had to put on her apron!
Then she cooked her pizza in the pizza oven of course
Raya and Grandma enjoyed the finished product greatly! (and yes, she put most everything in her mouth at some point. I had to try and forget about the germ fest that I'm sure was happening at that place haha)
Next we played in the nursery with babies. Raya was pumped!
Time to practice being a big sister Raya!
You can tell she's obviously pumped to be a big sister too. Oh boy.
Next Raya was a doctor. Doesn't she look cute?
Doctor's must always hand sanitize!
Checking out the organs available for her upcoming surgeries :-)
Next she imagined what it might be like to be a patient!
"If you start to lose the patient people just let me know...I have the paddles ready!
Sawyers other cousins Gavin and Fletcher came along too. Gavin and Sawyer had fun driving the ambulance!
Raya wanted a turn too!
Next was a room was a variety of things to do, including a train table!
This pic makes me laugh b/c you can see the amount of crap we pushed around at this place! Emily and her sister were keeping guard of our two double strollers, 3 diaper bags, and 4 purses haha. Plus one sleeping baby and 3 toddlers running around, and 2 pregnant mommies...we were quite the crew!
Grandma took Raya down the slide
...but then Raya had fun going up and down the slide many more times all by herself!
Next was the airplane room :-)
All 3 kids sat in the big airplane together!
Sawyer put on a puppet show...
...and Raya sat and watched the show
Planting veggies !
All in all a very fun day!!
Did you have fun Sawyer?
How about you Raya?
I think they had fun :-)
Now when I came home THursday night I left Raya with Grandma and Grandpa until Monday. Lee and I were SUPPOSED to leave today for a big camping and boating trip, but sadly when we got up this morning we discovered the lake and campground were were going to were closed due to flooding!!!! Bummer :-( So we've decided to do a stay-cation instead this weekend, and still enjoy our baby free time. Today we drove to Wisconsin and had lunch at a restaurant on the river and then we went to the big Cabellas up there. We picked up sweet corn and had sweetcorn and chicken kabobs for dinner, and now in a little while we are going laser bowling! :-) Tomorrow I think we're going to try to go boating nearby here if things are still open and then tomorrow night we're going to the comedy club. We're not wasting any baby free time haha.
Thanks for checking in today!
