On first glance, the bedspread-quilted and golden-seems to offer luxury, style and comfort. It's rich color and sheen speak to the imagination with images of silkiness, snuggles and satisfaction. You just want to pull back the bedclothes, slip in between the sheets and drift off to the land of nod in both comfort and style.
Unfortunately, the actual experience of sleeping under the richly appointed bedding doesn't meet one's expectations. The reality is akin to sleeping inside a plastic baggie; there is no lasting embrace of fabric to skin, no consistent cocoon of warmth-just a vague and often disturbing feeling of slipping and sliding around underneath a synthetic skin. A skin with all the emotional warmth of a dead refrigerator.
