I guess it's about time for an update...

Things are pretty good right now. School is still pretty much kicking my butt though. 18 hours is rough. Luckily all that is dwarfed by the job offer I recently received and accepted. The pay, perks, and benefits were all substantially more than I was expecting and had received up until this point so I really couldn't turn it down. I will be working for Baker Hughes' chemical division - Baker Petrolite. My position is Technical Support Engineer/Account Representative and I will be doing a bit of what they call technical sales. I have to train in Sugar Land, TX (outside Houston) for 4-6 months and then will be placed somewhere in the United States. I was hired by the manager for the Great Lakes area (who is really awesome) but was told by the time I go through training and everything they may need me elsewhere. I don't really mind because I'm ready for a change and to travel and see different parts of the country. After a couple years I will be able to work abroad which I'm really looking forward to doing. All in all, I really couldn't be more excited.

In much lesser news:

My laptop recently broke but with the partnership Dell has with Vanderbilt I was able to get a replacement. It's refurbished but 10x better then my old one so I can't really complain. It's been a pain reinstalling all the programs and whatnot. I'm really liking the wide screen high resolution though. Speaking of things breaking, somebody snapped my driver's side mirror off my car when it was in a parking lot at school. I have no idea how they did it. People suck these days. Right now duct tape is holding it on. I ordered the part online and will attempt to fix it myself.

I also want to say that I'm glad an African-American was elected President of the United States. However I am less than enthusiastic about most, if not all, of Obama's plans and policies. I am somewhat worried about this country becoming a socialist state. I think a good portion of voters cast their ballot for Obama for the wrong reasons. However I was pleased to see how many turned out to vote. When I went to the polls, the line was out the door and down the block. That's pretty awesome. The next four years will be interesting to say the least. Please don't call me a racist simply because I do not agree with the man.

We (Vanderbilt) still suck at football - apparent from our most recent loss to Tennessee. I don't understand how we lost to the two worst teams in the SEC. At least we're going to a bowl game. I'm looking forward to a more successful basketball season. Jeff Taylor is a beast.

I'm in Birmingham this week for the Thanksgiving holiday. I'll be heading down to Tuscaloosa for the Iron Bowl festivities. I need to get some homework done this week but would like to get out of the house if anyone's in town.

That's all I have for now. Listen to Jaguar Love.
