Masterlist here “Now that you’re back, I have the chance to tell you how monumentally stupid you were,” Jack rants, standing at the head of the boardroom table, “I’ve already had to deal with Owen for blundering in, guns blazing, so I’ve got no issue doing the same for you.”
Owen scowls and slumps further down in his seat on Jack’s left. The others sit with wide eyes.
Ianto’s face is carefully blank.
“Just what exactly were you thinking?” Jack sits and looks expectantly at him, “Well?”
There is a long stretch of silence.
“You know exactly what I was thinking, Sir.”
“Well the rest of us bloody don’t…”
“Maybe that’s because it’s none of your business, Owen.”
“It’s my business if it’s endangering staff health, Jack.” Owen snarks back, “And no one likes being kept in the dark.”
Ianto’s hands are clamped to the table in front of him, earning him some concerned glances from Tosh.
“I realise that,” Jack snaps, “That’s why Ianto’s going to tell us why he acted so rashly.”
Owen raises his eyebrows, but says nothing.
“I DID IT BECAUSE I FUCKING LOVE YOU!”
The whole room falls into silence. Gwen, Owen, Tosh and Jack all gape at Ianto. His chair is on the floor, hands clenched into tight balls by his sides. He is shaking.
“I know that you’re immortal Jack, but don’t you think it hurts me to see you die all those times? Don’t you think that if I could save you from the pain I would?” Jack opens his mouth, but Ianto isn’t finished, “And now it’s not just you I have to look after. You might not be able to die, but our child can!”
With that, he storms out of the boardroom, leaving Jack to face the music.

The music-facing lasts for three hours.
Tosh leaves after a few minutes, running after Ianto. The cog door alarms sound a moment later.
Owen begins the onslaught, demanding to know the facts; right down to date of conception. Jack is as calm and professional as possible, answering every question as best he can. Once Owen is satisfied, he manages a awkward ‘Congratulations’ and sits back down.
And then Gwen laughs.
The men stare at her, frowning. She smirks.
“It almost makes you feel sorry for him, doesn’t it.”
“What?”
“Well, think about it. He’s in love with you, but he’s just a shag. You’re obviously going to have to break it off with him.”
Jack‘s eyebrows shoot up, “I am?”
“Be sensible Jack; you can’t keep leading him on; it’s not fair. And it wont be fair to bring a baby into this mess, so you’ll probably have to deal with that too.”
“Just so we’re clear; how exactly have I been ‘leading him on’?”
“By acting like you’re a couple!” Gwen cries, astonished, “It’s completely unfair to him.”
“Gwen… We are a couple.”
There is a beat of dead silence. Owen looks like he wants to laugh, but is trying very hard to hold it in.
“Wha- No you’re not! You’re always flirting with everyone, and the other day, in your office-”
“When you threw yourself on me and refused to listen all the times I told you ‘no’? That day?” Owen starts shaking, one hand clamped to his mouth, “I don’t understand you, Gwen! You have a husband. YOU DO NOT HAVE ME.”
Owen howls with laughter and all hell breaks loose.

“I’m sorry.”
Ianto jumps a mile, scrambling for the lamp switch. Tosh left an hour ago, and he’s been just laying on the sofa in the dark. He’s not sure why. He didn’t hear anyone come in.
Jack stands at the end of the sofa, looking drawn and exhausted.
“I’m so sorry.”
Ianto says nothing, not even looking at the other man.
“I didn’t think.”
Ianto draws a deep breath.
“Obviously,” he deadpans.
“I’m sorry,” Jack tries again, moving to sit next to Ianto, still facing him.
“You’ve already said.”
“Well what else am I supposed to say?”
Ianto just shrugs.
“I love you too.” Jack’s declaration comes out like a sigh, but in the silence of Ianto’s flat it echoes around them. Ianto looks up from the floor, eyes wide.
“Wha-” Jack cuts him off with a breathtaking kiss. Ianto brings a hand up to Jack’s neck, pulling him closer.
The other hand strokes soothing patterns on his lover’s protruding stomach as they descend into bliss.
