I'm awake and.. apparently posting fic in the wee hours of the morning. Don't judge me? lol I finally got around to getting them beta'd and spiffed up. Yes, this is the Mighty Boosh prompt fic I replied to. One of them, anyway. Kinda nervous seeing as I've never written them before but posting it is half the battle, right? Right. Okay, so,
these two are hilarious and bicker like an old married couple (it's even more obvious throughout the show). They ship themselves. ♥
I know, me posting random fic after a long hiatus, I'm shocked~ too. Pfft.

_____
It had to happen on the coldest night of the year and wasn’t that something. Howard rolled down his jumper sleeves, covering up his hands with the ends and making sure not to burn himself on the kettle as he took the tea off. He heard a curse from somewhere behind him and some sort of thud.
“I can’t believe this is happening! I’m freezing cold, and now I just hit my toe. I hate when the heat goes out for no reason.” Vince looked miserable when he sat down on the settee, wrapping his arms around his legs trying to warm himself up.
“It’ll all work itself out, Vince,” Howard tried to reassure him as he handed him a cup, almost dropping it as he was shivering himself. “They said they’d fix it in the morning.”
“That’s not good enough!” Vince was frustrated as he grabbed another blanket from behind him and wrapped it around his shoulders; the different colors of the quilt made his eyes stand out even more if it were possible. Howard sighed, sitting across from the younger man, watching Vince bunch the blanket around his sock covered feet, smiling a bit at the scene before him.
“Let’s just try to distract ourselves, yeah? That way we’re not thinking about it.”
“I have! That’s why after we closed shop I went out shopping, then went up to see Leroy for a bit, and finally came home. We should have taken up Naboo’s offer to go with them to Africa for the night. Anywhere but this icebox is good enough for me.” Vince was practically pouting now. Howard rolled his eyes. “I’m surprised you’re not even remotely freezing right now.”
“Ah, that’s where you’re wrong Vince," he said. “I am. I just choose to push it away from my thoughts, you know? It’s a survival trick, all good mountaineers know how to use mind over matter. Howard Moon’s no exception.” Howard winked at him.
“Whatever,” Vince scoffed.
“How is it that you have a million jumpers on and you’re still cold? Not counting the blanket around your feet and shoulders.”
Vince simply glared at him from his place on the settee, wrapping himself up tighter if possible and chattering back his sarcastic reply. “I guess it has something to do with the current weather condition, Howard. Who knows.”
Howard couldn’t help laughing at that, looking once at Vince and finally back down. He silently thought about what he was about to do for a second, but no longer than that because if he was honest? It wasn’t like him at all to do what he was about to. But it was too late now, and he was already over there in less time than it took for him to decide it.
“Howard?”
“I know, don’t say anything.”
“What about-”
“Vince.”
“Yeah?”
“Shut up.”
Howard had his arms wrapped around Vince’s body, rubbing up and down the younger man’s arms, his body warming Vince up quickly as they sat in silence while Howard fully leaned into him. Minutes later and Vince vaguely remembered nodding off as Howard continued soothing down his arms, body familiar next to his.
---
It seemed like hours when Vince finally woke, his eyes widening in surprise when he wondered where he was, then felt relieved when he noticed his head was against Howard’s neck. The older man was stroking down his back, and Vince felt so warm and comfortable he didn’t want to speak up.
“You awake, little man?”
The low voice above him made Vince shiver. He lifted his head up to meet Howard’s eyes and tried not to flush at how close they were. “Yeah. Um, thanks Howard.”
Howard swallowed nervously, noticing all at once their positions and feeling himself fluster a bit at the realization. “Like I said, don’t mention it.” He watched as Vince’s eyes followed his throat bob, his eyes making their way to his mouth and then up to his eyes. Howard leaned in slightly, and before he could tell himself to he was up and out of Vince’s arms, mumbling “Should go do something about-”
A hand reached out to grab his, holding him there and Howard looked back at Vince’s sleepy smile and messy hair. Howard’s heart panged a little at the image in front of him.
“Stay. Watch some telly. Or something.”
Howard was pulled back immediately after that, his arm going around shoulders and bodies put back into their awkward position.
If the heat came back a little while afterwards, well, a little extra warmth never hurt.
