Oh. My. God. I am beyond livid right now.
Okay let's see here, 2 years ago, October 28th, 2004, I bought my very first cell phone from Verizon Wireless. At the time, I was not 18, and I had been dating Si for 2.5 years, so I decided the put the phone in his name (with my name still on it cause it had to be billed to my house anyway.) Now, 2 years later, I understand this was a very, very bad idea...especially considering we ended up breaking up a week later. So, for the past 2 years, i've gone into Verizon more time than I can countm, trying to do ANYTHING to my service/plan/phone/whatev. For two years they told me if I wanted to do anything at all, Si would have to do it since it's in his name. I offered to even pay the $175 early cancellation fee. They told me it would just go towards future bills and the cell phone would stay on. For two years I waited to be through with this goddamn contract. Finally, October 27th, 2006 (one day before my contract is up) I get my T-Mobile Sidekick. I use the same phone number, and so it turns off my Verizon service by itself. This I did not know. Now, I has e-mailed Si and and asked him if on the 28th he would call and cancel the phone for me. He said, "sure, no problem." A few says past the 28th go by, I e-mail him again to ask him if everything went okay. He says, "Yeah, they told me the phone was already turned off, and everything is fine, They also said that you could've just called and done it yourself because your name is on the phone too." UMMMM WHAT? Cause I'm pretty goddamn sure that for 2 years they've been telling me the complete opposite. Then I get a letter in the mail saying my service has been turned off and if this was a mistake, I can come in within 30 days, and get my phone turned back on free of any charges. Then, I get home tonight, and find a Verizon Wireless bill on my nightstand stating that I owe $200 for an early cancellation. Umm, what? I'm sorry, but after 2 years of fighting this fucking company, and then my phone getting turned off on it's own, and then them telling Si that that phone is in my name, I'm not paying this fucking bill. Oh, and they also said in this statement that they did not receive last month's payment, so I owe that too. Well, that's not due til the 11th, today is the 7th...so it's prolly still in the mail.
Regardless, all I have to say is that tomorrow after school, Verizon is going to be encountering one VERY unhappy "cusomter." And if they don't void that $200 bill, I will say fine, I have a letter right here saying I can turn my phone back on free of any charges...so I'll do that, and then as soon as I leave call and turn it off since I'm not on contract anymore. Either way, either Verizon is going to give me what I want, or I'm going to burn the fucking place down.
Good night.
