I want one!

I'm hoping to buy some land and build a house before much longer - been thinking about just what kind of house I want. Has to be earth friendly, efficient, hopefully reasonable cost-wise. Should look like it "belongs" on the site. It has to have a calming, relaxing feel - sweeping curves, rounded forms, organic. A touch of whimsy is a good thing, too - I've always wanted my own personal hobbit-hole. Imagine my joy and surprise at finding this - http://www.cobcottage.com/pics/ and http://www.weblife.org/cob/ . I love the idea of sculpting a house.

The earth ovens are adorable, too - haven't decided on a snail or frog shape, but I'm DEFINITELY building one. The major building materials are sand and clay - things this part of Florida is generously blessed with. Maybe a combination of underground and cob house will suit me best...figure that out when I come to it. In any case, imagine Celtic or tribal designs molded into the walls, posts, and such. Natural branches for beams, rafters, and lintels. Maybe even a thatched roof, but more likely cedar shingles. I see wind chimes, sparkles of colored glass in the walls...handmade quilts, afghans, and braided rugs...a perfect place for kids to grow up surrounded by magic and love. Sure would make a sturdy chicken coop, too. Might even mold one in the shape of a fox, just for fun. :)
