I had a very hard day. I have been working very hard; it is a difficult time during the study cycle (database lock); which means very long hours for everyone.
I got really sick last week; ended up having to cancel a trip and even though I am still fighting whatever I had; I still managed to put in almost 50hrs in a 5 day period last week (and 1 day with only 3.25hrs).
I had a discussion with my manager this morning which upset me a lot. Demoralizing. She went through my "time off" and said that I had taken 11 days this year off but failed to consider the fact that many of the days I actually worked:
Example: 1 day i had a migraine in the afternoon, worked the morning and worked late into the evening that day (totalling 10.5 hrs) and she said that I still have to use my personal time off because I was unavailable between the hours of 8:30 and 5! Are you kidding??
Another example was my recent trip to DC for the MsC conference; I had requested PTO but due to the number of things I needed to work on before leaving; I didn't get a report done prior to the travel day. So I let the team know that although I was traveling and not in the office, I would be working on my report. The following week (still on PTO) I logged on to get the report finalized. Again, something I explained to my manager because of timelines. Today she tells me that I have to take the full 8 hrs PTO! That is BS! Not when I worked and clearly worked and COMMUNICATED with the other team members that it was the plan!
In the same conversation she told me I have to be honest with my time. I was so offended. I am not lying about the hours I am working and told her that. She back-peddled and said "i didn't say you were lying; you just need to be honest" -- WTF?!
I have been working my ass off! I average about 50-55 hrs per week. I have a strong work ethic and she is accusing me of not being honest!?
There is a major deadline this week. MAJOR! I am covering not 1 but 3 people this week. I worked 15 hrs on Monday and 13.5 hrs yesterday. I have so much to do and it all has to be done by Friday but you know what!?? 5pm I am shutting down. How dare they question my work ethic!!? I am so done!
I think it is time for another job.....
