wedding and music fun

On Saturday, Ian and I went to a wedding for the woman who directs the community concert band that I joined pretty much immediately upon arriving in Fort St. John, and her now-husband, who plays percussion for the same band. They had their ceremony a couple days previous as they wanted a fairly private ceremony, but the reception was an all-weekend camping thing, with the main part of it being Saturday night (which was what Ian and I attended).

The cool thing was that her sister, who is one of our alto sax players, arranged for almost the entire band to be there, and we even learned a new piece specially for the wedding. Amazingly, it was almost a total surprise for the bride and groom! As Ian doesn't play in the band, he managed to catch it all on video with his phone (which took amazing video for what it was), and I've uploaded the videos to Youtube. So for your viewing pleasure, here is the Northern Winds Community Concert Band and friends, playing Ayres of Agincourt and Olympic Fanfare and Theme for Sabrina and Joe (and their guests). (Actually, that's Sabrina in the white there - she's such a band geek that she had to join us, since she's usually directing and doesn't get to play. I'm tucked in behind her - you can occasionally glimpse me in my purple shirt and sunglasses.)
