High School Reunion
So, I recently learned that my high school is having a reunion this year. Sixteen years after we graduated, and it is the first attempt to ever gather our class together again. So far, seven people have purchased tickets. Gee, I wonder why... Could it be that nobody really wants to remember high school? Especially THAT high school?
I couldn't afford to go even if I wanted to. And I would only want to if all two of my close friends from my grade who are still alive wanted to go. One of them has no interest at all, however, because it would by definition preclude all of our friends from the grades before and after us from going. And the other lives in Tokyo and will only come out if I go. So.... it looks like the MFC will not be making an appearance at our High School reunion. Tragic. Well, almost tragic anyway... sort of. .... yeah okay, maybe notsomuch.
So, I have put it out there to both of my surviving friends who I was really tight with in high school (the other passed away a few years back after being hit by a car) that we should arrange our own reunion. One just for us and our friends, including the ones from the grades before us and after us. We could pick out a hotel with a bar and take over the bar for a night. Anybody who is traveling in from afar or who doesn't want to have to drive home later can get a room. The rest, if they are still local, don't have to stay. Sounds good to me. A helluva lot better than paying 100 bucks a person to hang out with a bunch of people who never got along with each other and never liked us and strut about in our finery drinking watered-down martinis and eating cheese. Our whatever it is that people do at those things.
Of course, I need planning for this sort of thing like I need a hole in the head. I mean really, I don't even know what kind of time frame I have to work with before we are outta the area again. If we end up out of the area again. And if we do, where will we be? And when? So much is up in the air.... guess I should push to plan it for soon if it is going to happen at all, eh?
