Elliot and I are engaged!
We had breakfast with my grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins this morning, then he insisted that we go for a walk in the park next door. Despite my protests of having to pee, he led me to a lovely bench by the pond. And, after I made a quick visit to the bathroom by the picnic area, he surprised me with this beautiful ring (platinum with a blue sapphire -- my birthstone!). It was hidden in his pocket the whole weekend, but my smother-y relatives didn't let us have a minute alone until this morning, so he had to improvise before we left to drive back up to Gainesville. The family and closest friends have been informed (via phone or Facebook...) and now I'm telling you. It's been a happier holiday season than I expected. So excited!
