2. How many characters do you have? Do you prefer males or females?
Character-characters, or main characters? Cause the answer differs by a few hundred.
In terms of any character created for any reason, then I couldn't really say. A few dozen unfinished works, many characters created with no story for them, current works-in-progress, I'm looking somewhere in the hundreds. Now main characters... crap, I still don't know, I'd have to do a full search for any and all stories I started and find out. A least a dozen, and that's just going off of stories in the works; one story, one MC. There might be more per story, but damned if I'm gonna do that kind of searching right now.
Might be interesting to catalogue though.
As for boy vs girls, like
limiinal this is kinda a badly worded question, the characters become who they need to be or become who they want to be, and only tell me about it after the fact.
Okay, okay... girls, I think. When I first started writing, of course almost every main character was a boy, it's who I was and the best I could write (that's a lie of course, those early attempts were horrible) and rarely did I have a female as the lead. Over time, I've come to enjoy using females as MCs, mainly because they're kinda more fun to write. Also, now and again, I like toying with the Mary-Sue line and attempting to write someone who, on the surface, would easily be seen as a Sue, but the character never crosses the line, like Tigress (I hope).
