freedom to ask

Rose Nylun of The Golden GirlsPersonally comments from the Captain Obvious in the room urk me. Seriously, if I'm in a room and we all hear thunder roar and see lightning flash then someone asks "Is it raining?" - well, let's just say I my first choice of words is not always nice.

That's probably an extreme example. A more realistic example would be one that just happened. The utilities for the house come in my name. I open the mail and split the cost then circle this number and write my roommates name next to what she owes.

What follows is a list of questions from my roommate. How much does she owe? When is it due? and so on and so forth. She's far from a Rose Nylun. She's just a very thorough person. And me? Well, I like to think I was thorough enough to give her all the information she needed in advance. My reaction? Not exactly Christ-like. It such a huge pet peeve to repeat myself. Huge. But that's definitely not the way of God. See look:

If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and He will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. - James 1: 5

That's just amazing to me. From my finite human understanding it would be mighty annoying to have people constantly asking me question. And then there is God. In the midst of you know, running the universe, He has to deal with all of us constantly and repeatedly asking Him what we should do. What's more is some of situations we find ourselves could have been prevented if we'd paid attention the instruction He'd given us.

God is so amazing! Not only does He tells us what we need to know from the beginning but then He allows us to ask questions WITHOUT being rebuking us. That is a hard example to follow.

But at least it's a clear example.

And when I have trouble growing in patience I know I can ask Him questions.
