Nesting, Ambrosia Apples, Corresponding and Great Web Link!

Not a particularly exciting or informative entry, but here is today’s offering. I have set it in an undercut except for a link to Melanie’s website which I encourage you to check out!

The luscious red with faint hints of pink Ambrosia Apples were sitting on the counter, calling to me as lunch time rolled around. I have been desiring to eat these lovelies with some sunflower seed butter for the past few days, but kept forgetting about them and went on to eat other things (need to monitor my foods as I am diabetic, so once I have taken my insulin and eaten something , I can’t really add to it and eat more!) Well, today was the day! Just the right amount of sweet and salty (no, I’m not pregnant). So I have just downed a tender globe of apple slices dipped in sunflower seed butter and feel ready to get on with the days writings.

Today I awoke in a nest . . . literally . . . a nest of blanket and pillows all settled in around me. There are normally a series of pillows at the head of the bed which I shift around according to my needs (stacked high or low) and one at my feet to elevate them when needed. Garth and I each have our own blankets (solves the stolen blanket arguments that riddle many marriages/relationships ;-D) and of course he has his own pile of pillows for various placement due to his back issues.   My pillows always stay at the head of the bed and if I cast off my blankets, it is to the side away from Garth (so as not to invade his ‘space’) and he normally does the same - keeping our central meeting space neutral. This morning, my pillows had migrated down my sides, save for one at me head. The foot pillow was shoved down, out of reach from my feet, yet just close enough to support a barrier for them. Both my blankets cascaded off me to either side lining the pillow walls and Garth’s blankets and pillows supported the central wall even further! It is kind of hard to describe, but our huge bed is nestled into an alcove so there are walls at the head and both sides (makes for interesting retreats at the foot of the bed!). Pillows and blankets to the wall behind me, pillows and blankets forming a barrier in the center . . . pillow scrunched at me head and the foot pillow wrapped in the ends of my blankets to my feet . . . I was encapsulated in this nest of pillows and blankets. Initially I woke with a smile on my face feeling like I was being hugged from all angles, cradled in the fluffy softness, and then I realized how odd it was with the placement of things.

Not really sure why this was significant, but I felt the need to write about this odd little occurrence.

I got another email from my dear friend Bruce . . . it is so funny how he inspires without necessarily intending to do so.

“Before you get too excited about the association of labyrinths with
Malta, Geoffrey is actually talking about Mal'ta in eastern Siberia,
not the island in the Mediterranean (though doubtless there are
labyrinths and all kinds of other interesting stuff on the island).”

I had figured this out after a bit, but it is still very curious and just the thought process was enough to send me on the path where I discovered more about the ‘sound chamber’ or better known as the Hypogeum.

“I am quoting from Geoffrey's book 'The Dawn Behind the Dawn', which
explores the idea of a 'cultural seedbed' in the region of the Altai
mountains and lake Baikal, at the eastern end of the steppes.”

This is still an area to explore even if it is not associated with Malta the island. But that will have to be another day. I am just kicking back today. I can’t be highly motivated EVERYDAY! LOL!

Then he left me this morsel:

"I didn't know the Omphalos stone was carved with bees! I thought its
literal translation was 'egg stone' (as in cosmic egg, or universal
source of life). There is a round, roughly hive-shaped (or
egg-shaped) stone on the side of the Tor which is known as the egg
stone and which I have heard referred to as our local 'omphalos'. My
grandfather used to keep bees before I was born, and I can remember
my father talking about it - but he never tried it himself."

So I have been scanning around for these tid-bits and have made some great discoveries which I need to process - maybe more tomorrow!

OH, the Preseli Bluestone experiment should be getting under way soon: http://www.preselibluestone.com/experiment.htm

I am keeping my eye on the mailbox, anticipating the arrival of the bluestone to be utilized in this project. Will note when it arrives and any progress through the process.

And Last but certainly not least - Melanie and Alan now have their Lost Stones Website up: http://www.loststones.co.uk

From Bluestones (raw, polished, and stunning slabs) to Hazel Runes and Vibrant Wands in a variety of woods, Talismans and Peg Looms, sprinkle in some charged spring water - all derived and inspired from the natural landscape which they live on - you are sure to find something wonderful calling to you . . . I sure did! For this I refer you back to my journal entry - http://ravenshearth.livejournal.com/2008/01/13/ - scroll down to the entry entitled “Connecting”. And towards the end of the month a second wand should be on its way . . . one which upon seeing spoke to me of balance between the two. Be sure I will share my impressions when I do get to connect with it.
