You can blame
prof_ryoki for me finally getting around to posting some of the little ficlets/drabbles that I've written. XD I promised her once that I'd post mine if she started posting her stuff again. And she has. So. Here I am with my pitiful little contributions, lol. :)
For
doodlewithwords's birthday, I wrote five short fics for her as a present; my first fic in about two years. As she is a Byakuya and Byakuya/Rukia fan, three of them contain Byakuya and Rukia (don't worry, flist, there's some ShunUki in there too, of course!). This one can be taken either as gen or as a pairing, whatever floats your boat.
I'll post the next four within the next week or so! If anyone cares, haha.
Title: Sisters
Rating: G
Warnings: None
Word Count: 205
Characters: Byakuya, Hisana, Rukia
Pairing: Byakuya/Hisana, ambiguous Byakuya/Rukia
Prompt: Something with Byakuya
Author's Note: Thanks to
doodlewithwords for doing some beta work on these after she got them, though I've changed parts of some of them since she's seen them. I love you! <3
Byakuya did not watch Rukia.
If he had watched Rukia, however, he might have seen Hisana in the way her eyes flashed when she was annoyed, or in the vulnerable line of her shoulders when she was nervous.
He might have heard Hisana in her giggle; he might have felt Hisana in the smoothness of her skin.
He might have seen that they shared the same inner yearning to be loved and accepted, to be acknowledged- to be told that they were worth something to someone, despite all their flaws.
He might have seen that they were both people caught up in the past, always weighed down with guilt at the choices they had had to make in order to survive (even though often these choices weren’t choices at all).
If, however, it were true that he did observe his adopted sister, that he watched over her, that he cared, Byakuya would not have needed the physical proof of their facial resemblance to tell him that Hisana and Rukia shared the same blood.
But the heir of one of the Great Noble Houses would never bother to cast his attention on an unworthy commoner such as her.
So, of course, Byakuya did not watch her.
