This book was by the window when I awoke this morning... According to the postscript, this book is supposedly supposed to allow me to communicate with others...perhaps now I can finally reach my mother, were she to find her hands on such a similar thing?

No on both accounts, though my fool of a guard does let me leave the tower upon small occasions...but only with him present to watch me.

If they won't let you leave, then is there any way you can get out? When they're not looking?

I did attempt to escape by tying sheets together and using them as a make-shift rope down from my window...but my guard caught me.
