Metal Nation III was most excellent. It took us 13 hours to drive down to North Carolina but it was worth it. My only regrets were that I couldn't be there for the whole thing and that I didn't get to meet and more
Snakenet folks and spend more time with the ones that I did meet.
Friday night was killer.
Shroud of Bereavement opened. For an opening band at a metalfest they had a very good turnout. There were lot's of folks from New england there to see then play as well as a lot of snakenetters. I enjoyed almost all the bands that played even if I was to drunk to remember any names. I was very impressed with
Mortufairy. And as always, I enjoyed seeing
Command Presence. I also learned a valuable lesson that night Never ride in car when sarge, the Russian metal motherfucker, is behind the wheel.
Although I wasn't there for much of Saturday, I enjoyed every minute of the time I was there. Hanging out pool side was fun despite the hangover. The BBQ was Fabulous. They even had something for the vegetarians to eat. We saw a few bands, I had a few beers and then we hit the road. On the way home we stopped off at this place in NC to buy a carton of cigarettes. Everyone inside was smoking, even employees, they even had free samples of cigarettes for us to try. Walking around that store and having a smoke was endless fun for both me and Dan. I wish it was like that everywhere.
I really liked North Carolina, smokes and beer were very inexpensive, which was good for me because I only came down with 30 bucks. Jester's Pub was most excellent. They had the lowest prices for Guinness I've seen anywhere. I wish we had more cool clubs like that in New England.
Over all I had a killer time. It was nice to see my old college friends, listen to metal and party all night. This was my first year going and I hope to do it all again next year.
