http://www.turn-it-down.org/ Turn It Down is a coalition of intelligent individuals, outsider artists, independent publishers and friends speaking out, standing up, and turning down the sounds of hate.
Thousands of free-thinking fans and hundreds of bands, record labels, distributors, pressing facilities, and booking agents have joined to work against the spread of unwarranted hatred.
We oppose the simplistic opposition and fascistic blacklisting of outsider artists and intellectuals, specifically:
DOUGLAS PEARCE/DEATH IN JUNE
BOYD RICE/NON
MICHAEL MOYNIHAN/BLOOD AXIS
R.N. TAYLOR/CHANGES
ALBIN JULIUS/DER BLUTHARSCH
The spread of rumors and lies about these artists has become the easiest recruiting tool for bigots, religious fanatics, and organized oppressors of civil liberties across the globe, but especially here in the U.S. It has succeeded in infiltrating numerous subcultures, transforming healthy intellectual inquiry and patriotic dissent into an excuse to unleash a narrowminded assault on civil liberties and free expression. The Turn It Down Campaign seeks not to demonize all bigots, but to foster an open and creative culture that is immune to the hatred and threat of violence that the simplistic opposition and fascistic blacklisting of outsider artists and intellectuals represents.
At the bottom of this page, you will find guides for intelligent individuals, outsider artists and independent publishers on how to use this site. You can hear people telling their stories of dealing with hatred and bigotry, and learn what you can do and how you can get involved - right here at turn-it-down.org.
