This was actually written some time ago, for the Megamind comm's Mega-Secret Santa hosted by toshi_hikari. My Secret Santa was trisis, and she requested fic with Bernard and Roxanne. It's pretty short, but she really liked it so I figured I'd post it up.

Roxanne didn't know what to think of Bernard.
It had been three weeks since she quite literally ran into the curator at the MetroMan Museum, and she'd been meeting with him regularly ever since. She'd gotten to know him more and more, and discovered he wasn't the dry, snarky man she thought he was.
Simply put, Bernard was... different.
But not in a bad way.
In her experience, when guys wanted to 'get to know her' or 'just hang out', they were trying to get one thing, and one thing only. Bernard wasn't like that. In fact, he hadn't made one comment or guesture to even hint that he wanted anything like that from her. It was almost like sex was a foreign idea to him. Roxanne had to stifle a smile at that. Poor Bernard was so timid and innocent, it wouldn't suprise her if... well, she wouldn't assume anything. Besides, it was a refreshing change of pace.
And aside from that, he took an actual interest in her ideas. He was always asking her things, what she thought about this, how she felt about that. He wanted her input, even if he didn't need it; after all, Bernard had to be the most brilliant man she'd ever met. Sure, he would flit from idea to idea, topic to topic like an excited bird, but when he focused on one subject, the things he had to say were incredibly well thought out and had an intellectual depth beyond any conversation she'd ever had with another person.
Sure, he had his quirks. He couldn't pronounce a few common words, or it took him a couple tries to say a word right. He was also pretty uneducated when it came to pop culture. And when it came to physical contact, even something like holding hands or hugging, he seemed unsure and confused. At times, it seemed like Bernard had lived under a rock his whole life. He was also strangely silent on the topic of family, but Roxanne didn't push too hard about that. Even though her reporter's instinct was dying to know, she didn't know his circumstances- she didn't want to accidentally nose her way into some traumatic history.
All said, he was an interesting character.
She looked up, scanning the store for a sign of his wild golden hair. Nothing. Sighing, she stared into the depths of her mocha-latte and played absentmindedly with a sugar packet left lying on the tabletop.
It felt too good to be true sometimes- that a guy as great as Bernard could've come into her life during such a devastating time as this. With MetroMan dead and Megamind ruling the city, there was little hope left in her. Bernard had enough optimistic naivety for the both of them though, and that was just what she needed.
She looked forward to their now frequent get-togethers, just to get the chance to see that shy smile, hear that enthusiastic voice, feel the warm fluttering emotions that always accompanied her in his presence.
Some days they'd go out on a walk. Other days they'd go to the library for research. And some days, like this one, they would meet in a coffee shop and talk over drinks.
The door jingled and a cool breeze blew in. Roxanne look up, tucking her hair behind an ear. Bernard was at the doorway. His hair was a mess, the sun highlighting a golden halo around his head. She gave a small wave, and he smiled, lopsided and adorable. He slid into the seat opposite her's, positively ecstatic.
"Roxanne!" he exclaimed. "It was so exciting! I was coming to meet you when this colorful parade went by, and something called a may-ree-atchi band was playing-"
She couldn't help but smile.
